Nature & Wildlife Photographer

We are but a speck on this crazy orb. Mother Nature reminds us all of the time.

Their world is our world

'Nature provides elaborate calming and healing powers while photography is the ‘art’ of psychology. Images connect the conscious to the subconscious and vice versa. I use it to empower mental health and wellbeing.’

About Me

My decision to develop a webpage was not an easy decision. There are many professional Canadian wildlife photographers and the thought of trying to compete was simply, intimidating.  After all, this is not why I picked up a camera in the first place.  My journey with photography is the connection between the human heart and mind with the outdoors and the healing powers immersed in nature.  I have dedicated my academic and career path trying to understand the human body and mind, studying the physical and psychological benefits to human movement. However, it was being outdoors in almost any setting where I realized how the connection with the human spirit emerged.  To say nature grasps my attention and intrigues me would be an understatement.  I can spend hours looking at surface of a stone, water movement on a creek bed, spirals of a fern, snowflake shapes, cloud movement, darkness of a night sky and shadows casted by sunlight that change minute by minute. These geometries of nature amaze me. Today, still intrigued, I have expanded to photographing wildlife in their natural habitat and landscape as a ‘moment in time'. Our brains create perceptions and biases or attitudes around how wildlife images should ‘look’. For me, it’s important to share the environment wildlife live in. Hence, some my images may have a hanging branch, or a rock in an odd place. This is an intentional photography ‘faux pas’. Sometimes wildlife is not looking directly into the camera because these moments are important as well as they are engaged in their world.

The images shared are taken throughout Canada, coast to coast to coast. I am grateful I have had the privilege of using guides and expeditions to reach remote locations, but I’m also proud I have traveled alone sometimes spending weeks at a time on the road, with my dog companions. This is one time I can thank a pandemic for giving me the boost to step out and travel alone!

I want the website to reflect the emotions I experience in the moment. This is my self expression and it’s my hope the images evoke an emotion in you.

Please, enjoy my journeys and feel free to reach out about any image, thank you.
